" Appearing instead of '@'

This started since few days, whenever I type @ symbol in my laptop keyboard, " was appearing and I was trying to figure out why this was happening. As a workaround I used to copy the @ symbol from the net to type my email address!

Finally I figured out that this is due to the keyboard setting. The default setting was UK.

--> windows key+ shift and select English(United States). This has resolved the problem.
